Paula Visnoski was born and raised in a small suburban middle-class home in Hudson, Massachusetts. Being the youngest of two older sisters and a brother, she often found herself being left to her own devises to entertain herself. This is how she came to discover that drawing and painting were the perfect form of self-expression, add to that a Polaroid camera, and this would mark the beginning of her artistic journey.
As a young teen Paula took private watercolor lessons for a few years, and at age sixteen she won her first award at a juried exhibition in Maine. Voted “Most Artistic” in her school year book she then went on her own working a full time job and taking art and photography courses at the Worcester Art Museum and Worcester State College.
Veering on and off of the “beaten path” with the knowing in her heart that art would always be both a “gift” and a “curse”, Paula did not end up with a degree in art, but chose to follow her dream and refine her craft just the same.
So, fast-forward to 2009, she moved to an island, had 5 solo exhibitions and continues to make art with the knowing that if she has the pleasure to share her gift or not, she is being true to herself in living her life of an artist.
