What is a Giclee print?   A giclee (pronounced "zee-clay") comes from the French word, "fine spray". It is a digital plotter-based (large format) print that is produced by the application of millions of tiny ink droplets sprayed onto fine art paper or canvas. The archival based inks used are specially formulated so that the fine print heads spray droplets at a resolution of 1200 dpi. The media used is also of archival grade and can last from 100 to 200 years. The visual quality of the print is extremely high and the color saturation and definition stunning. Since printing is of “photo quality” the quality of the print’s appearance is directly related to the quality of the image provided. Based upon that permise, an image file with overall good color and tonal contrast and of a high resolution turn out the best pints. We offer giclee prints on both canvas and paper.

GLOSS CANVAS

White, poly-cotton blend canvas, with a primed satin finish. A special resin coating holds the inks with high clarity. Images are brilliant and well saturated, making this canvas an ideal media for fine art reproductions or studio portraits.

FINE ART PAPER

This is the very popular HP watercolor paper by Hahnemuhle used by artists and photographers alike. It is an acid-free, single-side coated paper with 50 percent rag showing a natural white finish with a slightly structured, soft-textured surface matte. This high-quality, mould-made paper is ideal for digital fine art reproductions.

How long will my print last?

We use some of the latest in artistic print technology. In addition, unlike canvas reproductions of the past, the inks we use are UV pigmented inks with an initial claim of 100 to 200 years on certain high quality media types. In general with proper care and not exposing the print to direct sunlight, your print is expected to last into future generations.
